For Young People

Sometimes you need somewhere safe to stay while everyone figures out what comes next. The Youthworks Shelter provides short-term, staffed shelter when you cannot safely or immediately return home because of family conflict, a crisis, running away, safety concerns, or other circumstances. While you are here, you’ll have a safe place to stay and adults available around the clock. Staff will talk with you about what is happening, what you need, and what you want adults involved in your life to understand. Depending on your situation, we can also help with counseling, family conversations, school, basic needs, and connections to other support. The goal is to help you and the people involved make a safe plan for what happens next. If you need a safe place to stay, call, email, or message Youthworks.

For Parents, Caregivers & Community Partners

Youthworks Shelter provides short-term, 24-hour staffed shelter for youth who cannot safely or immediately return home. Youth may need shelter because of family conflict, running away, abuse or safety concerns, a behavioral or mental health crisis, or involvement with law enforcement or Juvenile Court. Staff assess immediate needs, provide a safe place to stay, and coordinate with the youth, family, custodial authority, and other involved partners to develop a safe plan for what happens next. Support may include individual and family counseling, mediation and reunification support, school coordination, crisis services, aftercare, and connections to community resources. Referral and consent requirements vary based on the type of shelter stay and the youth’s circumstances. Families, law enforcement, Juvenile Court, Human Service Zones, and other partners can contact Youthworks to discuss shelter options and referral requirements.
